Frost & Sullivan Lauds MobileHelp for Its Outstanding Products and Performance in the North American Health Technology Market

August 21, 2012

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., -- Aug. 21, 2012 -- (PRNewswire) -- Based on its recent analysis of the healthcare technology market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes MobileHelp with the 2012 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Growth Capital Investment Opportunity. MobileHelp is America's leading provider of M-PERS (mobile-personal emergency response system) technology, serving clients across 50 states. With its unique medical alert device that is integrated into a superior system, the company has generated a competitive edge for itself in the North American market.

MobileHelp's highly reliable network connectivity, two-way call center, and cutting-edge technology offering have been quite instrumental in establishing it as the premier provider of M-PERS. The company develops and distributes market-leading products, such as DUO, the first fully integrated medical alert system with GSM (global system for mobile communications)/GPS (global positioning system) technology; SOLO, an innovative alert solution for people without home telephone lines; and Classic Help, a traditional medical alert system.

While there are some cellular and GPS-based stand-alone devices in the market, MobileHelp's devices are the only products that are integrated into their own system. The devices can be activated remotely through a pendant or a wrist button, and this is a unique selling proposition for attracting customers because the targeted end user—an elderly person—does not always have the device handy.

"MobileHelp has clearly focused its strategy on maximizing operational efficiency and highly tuned execution capabilities that leverage its high-end technology," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Saneesh Edacharean. "With its innovative offering, MobileHelp has ensured that its customers receive user-friendly quality services, such as immediate emergency assistance and connection of the person requiring care with the necessary caregiver through its caregiver tools."

Further, MobileHelp has a distinctive pricing strategy; the device is simply leased to users, and the payment for the service is made on a recurring basis. This strategy gives the company a pricing advantage, as the target population is the elderly. The product is sold direct to consumer and also through wholesale dealers. In the past two years (2009-2011), MobileHelp's customer base has increased by more than 1,000 new customers every month and nearly 500 percent per year.

MobileHelp's management is another key reason that the company is able to stay ahead of competition in North America. The management team members have accumulated years of experience and expertise in varied sectors, such as M-PERS, mobile technologies, Web hosting, telecommunications, communication services and many more. Founder Elias Janetis along with—President and CEO Robert S. Flippo, COO Dennis V. Boyle, CTO Jean Robichaud, Chairman Scott Adams and CFO Joel Richardson—combine their vast experience in the technology industry with strategic thinking to lead MobileHelp and successfully address the key industry challenges.

The company has been able to raise a total of $10 million in funding in three rounds between 2008 and 2011. Angel funding was provided by a number of individuals who were interested in this M-PERS technology. The final round of funding happened inDecember 2011 and raised $5 million.

"MobileHelp aims to lead by continuously updating its products in terms of features, and strives for its own innovative positioning," noted Mr. Flippo. "Research and development has been a prime focus area of MobileHelp, and of the total money raised through funding, more than $3 million was spent on R&D."

MobileHelp already has three patents in the United States for its innovative system, which helps to integrate its devices into a comprehensive solution. It also has two patents pending, of which both are expected to be granted by the end of 2012. In addition to the M-PERS, MobileHelp has a set of caregiver tools that forms a platform to connect the provider, the family member and the elderly user. In case of an emergency, the user is secured assistance, and the family is alerted on the status and location of the user through the caregiver tools.

"Due to the overwhelming demand for its technology, MobileHelp has been attracting positive interest from outside the United States," observed Mr. Flippo. "However, the company has a clear strategy to tap the growth opportunities in the Unites States alone so that the revenue generated, along with additional rounds of funding, can help it explore other markets such as Europe and the emerging economies, including India and China, by the end of 2014."

Based on these factors, Frost & Sullivan is pleased to present MobileHelp with the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Growth Capital Investment Opportunity Award. Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in operational and execution capabilities that are driven by an experienced management team and strong funding from quality investors. The award acknowledges the company's product differentiation capability and expansion strategy that has resulted in sustained growth and a leading market position.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development.
